Ladies and Gentlemen of the United States,

Today, on the 20th of January, 2025, I stand before you as your newly minted Vice President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. In the aftermath of the assassination of President Harris, and the incapacitation of President Biden, I have been sworn in as the leader of this great nation.

I understand that these are trying times, and many of you are likely feeling scared and uncertain about the future. I want to assure you that I am here for you, and that I will do everything in my power to keep you safe and to preserve the freedoms that we hold so dear.

In the face of this crisis, I have declared martial law, and I have assumed full command of the military. I know that this is a drastic step, but I assure you that it is necessary in order to protect our citizens and to restore order. I will do everything in my power to return the country to a state of normalcy as quickly as possible.

But make no mistake, while this may seem like a dark day, and perhaps even the end of the Republic, I assure you, that as long as I, Eric Swalwell, still breathe free air, the Republic will endure.
