Mitch McConnell, despite any recent attempts to distance yourself from the chaos, you don’t get to pretend you are one of the good guys now.

For years, you have played the political game with a disregard for consequences, choosing your party’s interests over the good of the nation. Your votes, your obstructionism, your refusal to uphold the integrity of our government — all of it has led us to this moment of chaos and uncertainty.

1. Your Actions Have Caused This Chaos

McConnell, you’ve spent decades at the center of American politics, and in that time, you’ve made choices that have had devastating consequences for the nation.

  • You blocked vital legislation when it suited your party.
  • You enabled corruption at the highest levels.
  • You stifled progress on issues that could have united the country.
  • Most egregiously, you helped embolden the worst of the far-right, allowing them to dismantle our democratic norms.

Your direct actions, or more often, your inactions, have allowed the political and social fabric of this country to fray. When history looks back at the moments that set us on the path to self-destruction, your name will be at the forefront of that list.

2. Pretending to Be a Good Guy Won’t Work

Now, with the situation spiraling out of control, you seem to think that a few votes against nominees or posturing for the public will redeem you in the eyes of the people. But that’s a joke.

You don’t get to play the role of the concerned politician now — not after you helped dismantle the very checks and balances that have kept the system in place. The chaos, the corruption, the erosion of democratic principles, all of these things have your fingerprints all over them.

You’ve spent years enabling dysfunction in Washington, refusing to stand up when it mattered most, and fueling division for personal and political gain. The idea that you could now suddenly be the hero is insulting.

3. You Are Not One of the Good Guys

There’s no magic moment when you can wipe the slate clean. You can’t just flip the script and expect people to see you as anything other than what you’ve always been — a part of the problem, not the solution.

You never had the people’s best interests in mind. Your loyalty has always been to your party, to the power you could hoard for yourself, and to the elite forces that kept you in a position of influence. The good of the nation was a distant concern — something you could sacrifice when it didn’t suit your interests.

And now, when the consequences of your choices have manifested into crisis, you can’t just play the role of a savior. You are no hero, Mitch.

4. The Moment of Accountability

You, Mitch McConnell, have helped lead this country to a precipice, and while you try to distance yourself from the wreckage, the reality is that it is your actions that have brought us here.

Your attempt to pretend you are one of the good guys is transparent and dishonest. You don’t get to walk away from this. You’re not a man of principle — you’re a man who has played the game to your own benefit.

And now that the consequences are inescapable, the only thing left is accountability. You’ve helped cause this chaosnow own it.
