Standing Up to Bullies: My Personal Fight for Justice Against Trump’s Threats
The recent post by former President Donald Trump, “If you come after me, I am coming after you!” has struck a personal chord with me. This is not because of the threat it implies, but because it reminds me of the day he came after me, and millions of other Americans, by undermining our democratic rights on January 6th.
On that day, Trump showed his true colors to the world. He demonstrated that he was willing to trample on our rights, to disregard the very principles that our nation was built upon, all in a desperate attempt to cling to power. He revealed himself to be an adversary, not just to me, but to every American who values democracy and the rule of law.
Since then, I have been tirelessly advocating for his day of justice. I may not have much power, but I am determined to use what I have to stand up against bullies like Trump. Bullies who are willing to resort to force, to incite violence against their fellow Americans, all in a bid to seize power that they do not deserve.
Trump’s recent post is not surprising. It is consistent with his pattern of violent rhetoric and his disregard for the principles of democracy. But it does not deter me. It only strengthens my resolve to continue calling for his day of reckoning.
Like the brave men and women in the Justice Department, I will not back down. I will not give in until justice is served. Until every American, regardless of their political affiliation, can trust that their rights will be respected and protected. Until we can all be confident that our leaders will uphold the principles of democracy, rather than trample on them in a desperate bid to cling to power.
Trump may have started this fight, but it is one that I, and countless other Americans, are determined to finish. We will not rest until justice is served, until our democracy is secure, and until bullies like Trump are held accountable for their actions.
